I love the thought of recording sound in addition to pictures as a means to capture a travel experience. The short videos I have from my trips this year instantly bring me back to the moments spent in every location mainly due to the background noise - the waves/birds on the beach, the sounds of firecrackers on New Years, people hustling about at a train station, bells on bicycles. In Berlin, I purposely recorded audio soundbites at an exhibit at the Jewish Museum (walking on metal faces) knowing that the sound would leave a lasting impression - the evoked emotion of the exhibit unable to be captured with an image alone.
One memory in particular - my dinner in the dark - is based solely on audio recollection…but that’s a whole post on its own….right Angela?
