Spent a wonderful Saturday with friends (for E’s Birthday) wine hopping on Long Island at theĀ North Fork vineyards. I had never been there before and was pleasantly surprised-beautiful scenery and rather inexpensive (about $4-10) per tasting (approx. 5 selections). We rented a limo which made trekking around easy, efficient and allowed for us to start the day (9am) with mimosas & bloody marys…
Our stops:
Pindar: $4 per flight. 5 selections from a list of over 20. Really enjoyed their signature Sunflower Chardonnay. Covered outdoor pic-nic overlooking the vineyard.
Duck Walk $4 per flight. 5 pre-determined selections. A little too crowded and the staff seemed overwhelmed. Nothing that I tried stood out.
Paumanok $10 flight. 5 pre-determined selections. Very friendly and personal service. Not crowded. Nice covered porch with tables overlooking the vineyard. By far my favorite. I really enjoyed every wine they poured for us.
Corey Creek $8 flight #3. 5 pre-determined selections. Busy but welcoming. Live music and tables on a covered porch. Staff was a little slow. Favorites from this tasting was the “Taste White” - but that may be because the bottle label was cool.
