Hooray for Mail!
I spend all day immersed in words. Constant, instantaneous, minimally absorbed and rarely appreciated communication. All day, words in texts, words in email, bbms, mmses and smileys mimicking my emotional responses to words. Conversations that should take hours now take seconds. Wham, bam, thank you ma’am- next topic.
Today one extremely thoughtful package made an impact- a pause button on the hum of technology.  It came in the mail with a very nice card. A card with real words put together by someone who took a few moments of their busy day to compose & physically mail them to me ( I know what a hassle mailing anything can be). These words won’t end up in my “trash” folder 5 seconds after I read them or in “archived mail” to revisit at a later time (which will never happen). These words I will keep. These words will last if my computer crashes, they will always make me think of a good friend, inspire me to create my own words and remind me of just how important & powerful a few tangible sentences can be – and how much fun it is to get MAIL! . (Non-electronic mail is such a novelty these days. Can you imagine getting this excited about an e-mail! The anticipation was killing me before I was able to pick it up).  Thank you, Alex.
